old friend, new dogs

The weather has suddenly turned into lovely, balmy springtime in the Yukon. We are at this moment enjoying not only the weather, but a two-week visit from a beloved old friend from Spain, Ramón Rojas, proprietor of Sepp-Segú Kennels in Catalunya.

Ramón is leaving the sleddog game after some fifteen years and has come to the Yukon (for the second time) to bring us two lovely male Seppala Siberian Sleddogs from his breeding programme. "Ditko" is a beautiful fox-red blue-eyed three-year-old boy, a double great-grandson of our dear old foundation bitch Karcajou's Dreama of Windigo. "Cocú" is a seven-year-old silver-grey brown-eyed male similar to his sire "Shapka" who was a litter-brother of our Siberia import Shakal iz Solovyev.

These two males, both of whom are bred from a very successful mixture of Russian and Markovo-Seppala bloodlines, come at a time when we can very advantageously use a couple of good males with the Solovyev background. (In fact, Ma Nature just endowed us with two all-female litters the better to make good use of them!)

Isa Boucher and I are having a grand time with our friend Ramón, talking over old times in the Pyrenees, catching up on news of friends we left behind in Spain, and talking about Ramón's future plans, which may well include a move to South America.

More information about the new stock at Seppala Kennels will soon be made available on the "Seppala Kennels" pages of the Seppala Siberian Sleddog Project website.
